Frequently Asked Questions

♦  When is the 2018 Surprise Stake Trek?
The Trek will be from June 6th to June 9th.
We will let you know the time and place to meet for the day of Trek, so visit back here often.
Make sure you come dressed in your pioneer clothes the day of Trek.

♦  I haven't registered for Trek, am I too late?
The deadline for Trek registration has passed, but we want everyone to have an opportunity to come.  Please talk with your Bishop to get registered.

♦  What is the age limit for the Trek?
The Trek is for youth ages 14 years and older by September 1, 2018.

♦  Will the youth leaders from each ward or branch unit be attending Trek?
Unfortunately there are a limited number of individuals that can go on the Trek. For this reason only the leaders that have received a specific call or invitation will be going on the Trek.

♦  What is a "Trek Family"?
Each young man or young women will be assigned to a Trek Family. The Stake Presidency will carefully select "Ma's and Pa's" from the stake. These individuals will lead your Trek "family" for the duration of the Trek. Other members of your Trek Family will include young men and young women from the different wards and branches throughout the stake.

♦  Is the stake paying for each youth's pioneer clothing?
Unfortunately not. Each individual should provide their necessary clothing.  Please see the equipment/packing list for more information on what to bring.  Also, Sister Erin Boston from the El Mirage ward has been asked to be the 2018 Surprise Stake Trek clothing committee leader and has asked clothing specialists in each ward to be available to help the youth prepare. They are a great resource for information on how to get started and what qualifies as pioneer clothing. Please contact them for questions or guidance.

♦  Can families join us for Trek if they drive themselves?
Unfortunately not. We know that everyone would love to go on Trek, but this is a youth activity.
